I have a Jacuzzi tub on the 2nd floor of my house. It was installed in approximately 1985. It hasn't been used since I moved into the house in 1998.

I am concerned that the tub has adequate additional supports for the weight of the tub, water and people. There appears to be an additional 2 X 10 joist added to each end of the tub, extending from the exterior wall to the next supporting wall. There are 3 2X4s running perpendicular to the joists immediately under the tub. The tub is of a size that I estimate the water weight to be approximately 1,200 pounds. Only two adult people can fit in it.

Is this additional support adequate?

Thanks for any advise.

 You really can never have too much support under a tub. If you can fit two people in this thing comfortably, I'd guess it's at least a 150 gallon capacity, so that's 1245 pounds without people.

My preferences have always wanted to have extra support in the middle of the tub as insurance. If it were mine, I'd add another 2x10 in the middle, underneath the 2x4's.

Good luck!
