Hi,

I am remodeling a residence. We have run a 1" conduit to an exterior location for the spa. This stubs into a new subpanel in the new addition. If we have a GFI breaker in the subpanel in the new addition is a disconnect required (by code) near the tub or can we just use a direct run to the spa from the subpanel?

Thanks for your help!

Keith

I don't know if this information is pertinent to an answer however this is under Los Angeles County jurisdiction.

The National Electric Code requires a disconnecting means within no less than 5 and no more than 10 feet, and within sight, of the hot tub.
