I'm getting ready to install a used spa I recently bought. The pack is rated at 40 amps/220 volts. My house has an existing run that was put in place for a future spa. This run has a 40 amp breaker. Will this be sufficient or do I need a supply that is greater than the rating on the spa pack?

Thanks,
Dan

You should be ok, but in the industry I am in, we (as a rule of thumb) set our overloads (breakers) to 125% of maximum continuous load. So, if your tub is drawing a true 40A load, we would use a 50A breaker, since that is the closest "standard" breaker over 40A. However, I would bet your tub is actually around 36A at full load so a 40 should be sufficiant.
