I am replacing the pump and motor on a Spa. The old motor was a 56FR that connected as follows: L2 - High Speed, L1 - Common, & L3 - Low Speed. The new motor has five terminals. It is a 56YFR. Do They hook up as follows? T1 - Common, T2 - Low Speed, T3 - High Speed? All connections are from the controller. Both motors were manufactured by GE.

Check the nomenclature tag on the side of the motor.
If it indeed says that T1 is common (L1)... etc.. then yes. That's how it works. The most important is getting the common terminal correct. If you were to make the mistake of connecting L1 to high speed, and L2 to low speed .... You'll have quite an unpleasant result.
L1 - The common to the motor, is the most important. Then everything else is pretty simple. If you get high and low reversed, and common line is correct, then it'll let you know by pump speed being incorrect during heating and filtration.

That's the problem. The nomenclature tag is not clear. I checked the GE site for it and it does not state common on the tag. The tags can be found here:
http://www.geindustrial.com/products/br ... 00900B.pdf
The old motor (page 14) wired as shown - 56FR, single voltage, two speed, non-reversing.
The new motor (page 15) - 56YFR, single voltage, two speed, non-reversing. I am just not sure of the L1 terminal. I believe from my contol panel, white wire common goes to it. Then the black low speed goes to L2, the Red high speed goes to L3, and of course green ground to the frame. I don't like unpleasant fireworks.
Thanks.

If your terminals are marked T1, T2, and T3:
If I were in the field on this, I would assume that T1 was common.
It's normal.
Then, I would power it up with my finger on the main power waiting to shut it down in a second flat just in case I was wrong.
At least this way, I will know if it's wrong, and I won't toast the motor by letting it sit there and fry like breakfast on the stove. We have to be really careful on what is assumed to be correct in this forum, it's the legal/liability implications and I'm sure you understand what I mean.
Hope this'll work.

I have an old GE (Jaccuzzi) dual speed pump. I'm trying to figure out the wiring.
The motor model is: 5KC39QN114OX (wow)
3/4-1/10 HP, 115V
The wiring diagram on the side states:
L2 --------------------
HIGH | ^
L1 ------- LO
V
A/B ------------------
I'm just trying to get the high speed / low speed logic correct. I have four wires out of my control box. Here's my guesses at how to hook up:
RED - Low, hook up to the A/B label
BLACK - High, hook up to the L1 label
WHITE - Common, hook up to the L2 label
GREEN - Chassis ground
Does this sound correct?
Thanks

Well, something doesn't look quite right with this. If it were mine I'd try L2 High, (black), L1 Low, (Red), and possibly A/B as common?
What is that High:|^ with the caret thing? Is that pointing up to L2?
I'd need to see a pic of this thing as well as the back connector block to give you a definite answer...
Either way, you could destroy this motor unless you're absolutely positive.
(And I'd definitely not connect it the way you were suggesting... Not without seeing it myself).
