I have read several threads on this and I am a little confused. I am going to be installing a hot tub at my home and have purchased the following supplies for the job. 15 feet of #6, black, green, and red copper wire, 15 feet of solid copper grounding wire and a non-fusible 60A A/C box.

The tub will be situated on a concrete slab between my house and garage. The garage has its own electrical box with 70A service from the house. I have run the four wires from the garage box, through conduit and mounted the disconnect box.

Here's my question. Was I supposed to use white wire in addition to the green or is the green even necessary? I have attached two pictures to show what has been done so far. Can anyone take a look at what I have done so far and let me know if I am on the right track. In the first picture, you will see that I have pulled the 4 wires through the conduit and they are hanging below the panel.

Don't worry, I will probably be getting some help making the final connections but want to do as much as possible before I have someone check out my work and before throwing the GFI breaker that will have to be installed in the panel as well. Here are the stats on my tub:

240V/50A
Draws 40A
3 wire
50 amp dual pole breaker (I have this from the current owner's panel)
