Hey, I have a question cause my spa people tell me my Electrician screwed me.
Here is the layout.

It's about 150 feet from the main to the spa. There is a disconnect against the
house before the wires head across the backyard that is probably about 100-120
feet from the main breaker (a panel with a 50 amp switch). Main breaker is
50Amps. Then a littel box against the fence across from the spa (not sure what
it is) that is easily under 5 feet. He used 8 gauge wire for all this.

Electrician says the spa is pulling only 30 amps which is in complicance with
your post. The spa people say it needs more. The heater won't work I get flow
problem errors. The spa people say the electricion violated our warranty.

From your expertise did the electrician screw us or is the spa malfunctioned?

Thanks alot for any feedback it's been a week of hell being caught between these
two.

Adam

The electrican did nothing wrong. The spa pak is rated for 40 amps, but it may only pull 30 under full load. 8 guage is plenty big, that's only a 4KW heater.

You simply have a flow issue, not related at all to any wiring snafu... probably a pressure switch that's a little out of adjustment(Either too sensitive or not sensitive enough) or perhaps even a clogged filter (It can happen even in a new spa) possibly a bad press/switch harness, etc. etc.

I feel for you, I wouldn't wish the annoyance of poor customer support on my worst enemy... Just be persistant, kind, patient, but let them know the wiring is nor the problem, and let them know if their technician claims it is bad wiring, you'll pay for the service call. You won't end up paying for anything, but if that's what it takes to get them out there, make the offer...
