thought I had this figured out, but am a bit confused now...

here are the specifics:
running 6/3 + ground from 60amp breaker in main panel to midwest electric 60 amp spa panel on outside of house. From the Spa panel to the hot tub location is another run of 6/3 + ground as well as a 14/2 + ground for a couple of outdoor recepticles. So far so good right...

Here is where I would like to check my work. the run from the house I have the black and red terminated on the lug screws in the spa panel, the bare ground to the grounding bar and the white neutral to the neutral bar. The 6/3 run from the tub has the ground to the grounding bar, red and black to the 2 load terminals on the GFI breaker and the white to the neutral terminal on the breaker and the white from the breaker is connected to the neutral bar. Again here I think I have everything correct but just want to double check.

The spa panel has additional slots for other circuits which is how I plan to power the 14/2 run to the tub area. From the looks of the diagram on the spa panel it looks as the power applied to the main lugs of the spa panel also power up the expansion slots in the box. If this is correct all I would have to do is plop in a 15amp GFI breaker and wire up the 14/2 and have power correct? What confuses me is how does it go from 240 to 120? Will only one of the hot leads power the additional slots thus only 120?

Sorry for the long post but I tried to be as specific as possible to get the full picture of what I was working with.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds great, although if the additional outlets are outdoor, make sure they're gfci outlets, or just use another GFCI 115v breaker.

And yes, two 110v lines (on seperate phases) make 220v. So using just one of those 110v lines (+ neutral) will yeild 110v.

Enjoy- you've done the hard work, now it's time to r-e-l-a-x!!!

Thanks Swine! Your right running that 6/3 was no fun task. Lots of cussing and sweating. That stuff makes the 14 ga wire look like dental floss.

Quick question on the outdoor outlets...just the 1st one in the run needs to be a GFCI outlet and the rest can be standard correct?

thanks again :!:
