Hi there,

I am trying to connect my spa controls where I have three wires:
black, white and one bare wire. Can you tell me which is ground / which is nuetral / which is load 1 and which is load 2? We have a 240 volt system.

Thanks in advance - Elizabeth

Need a little more info... but for now I'll tell you this much:

If this 240 volt control system requires L1, L2, Neutral and Ground, your incoming power wires are not correct.

What you're describing to me is a 240 volt 3 wire setup coming from the house. In this:

White is normally L1
Black is normally L2
Bare copper is Ground.

You are missing (don't have) a neutral line.

IF you actually need a neutral line, then what you SHOULD have is a 4 wire 240 volt connection that will normally in most cases resemble this:

Black L1
Red L2
White Neutral
Bare Copper is Ground.

We have 3 wires coming from the house which were previously hooked up to the controller by the spa guy 20 years ago.

The Controller which is a Catalina CM101, has connections for:
ground
nuetral
Line
N.O.
N.C

We are not using Motor No. 2 as there is no blower.

Thanks for the wire identification, we will go from there.

The CM101 you and I have is NOT listed on this site, but everything else that was Catalina Controls seems to be. It's the Allied Innovations sub site for Brett Aqualine, who used to be Catalina, I think. There is also a contact number for information not available on the page. Haven't called it yet, myself. Good luck! -russell in Maryland ?;D
