I just purchased a used Southwest Spa with a Nu Wave Spa MM#1 Control. The previous owner of the house had 220 running to his deck. My plan was to utilize the GFCI he had set up. When I opened the panel he had 2 black wires and a green coming from the main. The GFCI has a White pigtail on it. The tub has a red, black, white and green. There is a metal spike in the ground under the panel with the GFCI - not sure what was hooked up to it.

With no neutral coming from the main am I able to hook the spa up and if so can someone walk me through the neurtral and the ground?

Thanks

The two black wires are your two legs of hot for 220v, the green is your neutral wire, the extra ground being your local home ground is usually a bare copper wire not always used on a spa control panel it may trip the GFCI breaker if used on the panel. The white wire off of the breaker goes to the neutral bar in the breaker box. the white wire is neutral, red is hot, black is hot and green is ground on the other bundle.

Hi,I have a technical question... I've been put into a situation.. so here's what happened
I sold a '2000 JetSetter to an individual, and the spa was in perfect working order when I sold it, I had it wired for 110vac when I sold it. The purchaser wanted it hooked up to 220vac, I advised them to hire a Spa-installer because the unit had to be re-wired. After that I got a phone call that the spa made a lot of Noise when the jets turned on, and then would turn off... when I arrived I found that the spa had been wired directly to the same terminals as the 110vac and jumpers/dip switched still in the 110vac position, also the 220 was only 3 leads two hot and a ground, no GFCI panel either.. I advised them to hire a Spa installer to fix it.. they say they have and now the jets still don't work.. did the original guy that wired it wrong cause any damage?
Please let me know, because they have hinted that I should pay for the repair.
Please Help.

I would wonder if it is hooked up correctly now. It could have screwed things up but I doubt it.

Here is how to hook it up:

There are 2 power jumpers on the terminal board. Take out both and put the double one on the right side where the triple one cane from. You must then change the pin jumpers on the circuit board - the control box cover will explain this.

They must come into the spa with 5 wires. 2 hots for the 30 amp GFI, 1 hot & 1 neutral for the 20 amp GFI and a ground.

THE NEUTRAL MUST COME STRAIGHT FROM THE BREAKER AND NOT THE BUS BAR.

If you need it I can probably email you a schematic.
