New POS spa owner here.
My buddy gave me his old spa when he bought his new one.

It seems to be a Continental Leisure, 3 person, with 5 jets. It is leaking, rotting, the blower is shot. pump & heater work, the shell is in good shape.
The control Box (if that is what it is called) says Infinity Spas model # 5000H.

I plan to ditch everything except for the shell.

Questions:

1. Is there a dissolver for this god-forsaken foam, or do I just light the match now?
2. What is a good quality jet for a modest sum of cash?
3. I am also in the market for a complete spa-pack. Pump, blower, heater,
plumbing, and a cool light. What do I need?
4. Can I drill out a couple extra jets for my aching upper back?

I would really appreciate some help....especially with this freaking foam!

Thanks,

Mike

I'm working on a foamed spa right now and have been using a saws-all and a sheet rock saw for cutting it out. I'd love to know what the professionals use on this stuff.

check out http://www.colorgloproducts.com for a cool lighting solution.

Here is the reply I got from a different forum. Sounds like there is no easy way to get it out. Good luck with yours!

POS is a common term we label a number of our customers spas with as well and I believe we are on the same page...

OK, here goes....

1. The only way to get rid of the foam is to scrape it. There is no chemical to dissolve it. I know how you feel. I use a pry bar that is about 2" wide and has a 1/2" lip on the end and it works very well. The good news is that you dont have to worry about putting the foam back on as it does not really do much except keep the plumbing from comming loose during spa transportation and provide a sales tool in the showroom floor.

2. A decent and upgradeable jet is the Hydro-Air Freedom Series and it looks like this. We sell them for $35 each. Be sure to get a jet that uses 1-1/2" water inlets for proper water flow.

3. Usually the pump and air blower can be reused so just a control system/heater is replaced. A basic control system runs about $450 plus installation and includes controls and a heater and air buttons. Light kits are $60 to $100. Air blowers are $120 to $200 for a complete unit. A complete pump will run you about $200 to $400 depending on size.

4. Yes, you can add jets to the spa but be sure you have the jet in your hand before you drill any holes for it. Make sure the area the jet is to be installed is flat and has the space on the back side of the spa for the back of the jet and the needed plumbing connections. Also be sure your pump will provide enough water to properly power all jets and be sure your existing plumbing is at least 1-1/2" on the water supply side for proper water flow.

Hope all this helps and let us know if you would like to order anything!

Thanks!

I finally got some time to work on the spa again and found an easy way to remove foam.
I put a steel wire brush on the end of a right angle grinder and just grind away. It's messy but very quick and effective.

Mike,

I found that using a high pressure water sprayer works extremely well to remove all that foam (takes about 2 hours in all), just don't try to do it on a windy day! :D
