I recently replaced the pump on my Coleman Spectrum 200. While doing so, I had to replace some of the plumbing because the old Hayward fittings wouldn't work with my new pump. To do so, I had to scrape away a lot of foam insulation. Not easy, and not fun, either. I discovered (belatedly) that the flex pipe would not bond well in places where it used to be covered with foam. I managed to work around the problem, but it was very frustrating.

I'm now considering replacing my control pak, and that means more replumbing. Is there a way to get the foam off the old plumbing in a way that leaves the plumbing reusable? Or do I need to strip the foam all the way down to the jet bodies and replace everything from there to the control pak?

oh no....

I use a drill with a wire brush on the end. Works like a champ!

If you use a plug in electric drill be sure to have max speed set very low - also be sure to use safety glasses.

Yeah, it just seems that replacing the control pack is the most economical solution in the long-run. If my topside control is fubar, and then the heating element goes, and then the circuit board dies... Well, you get the picture. I just have to figure out how to shoe horn one of those cool SmarTouch 1000s under my shell.
