We have just installed a previously working 1984/1985 Beachcomber "sea spray" hot tub. This hot tube was previously my parents hot tub but was sitting unused for about the past 7 or 8 years. We have installed the hot tub into our deck. we had to replace two of the four jets in the hot tub. We ran new lines to and from the heater/pump assembly. The pump does work and the heater has shown that it starts to heat up. Our concern is the water that continues to come out of the air intake knobs. these are the style that just screw into the top of the hot tub. There are only two of these knobs, one that goes to the two jets on the right hand side and one that goes to the two jets on the left. We had previously thought that there was a blockage in one of the lines, from debris or whatever that could have collected over the years of sitting, but we have taken the lines apart again and snaked them with a plumbing snake and we have ran water from the garden hose through them. We have also blown air into the air intake and this comes out the jets into the tub. We are at a loss as to what could be causing this issue.

One thing that concerned me was that the the line that comes from the heater is supposed to be lower than the line that goes into the pump, we have the lines hooked up that way at the heater/pump area but then the pump line falls below the heater water out line, before it reaches the tub. My husband says that this should not make a difference as the water is being pumped. I am just curious as to whether this would make a difference?

We also thought that this could be caused by air lock in the system, how do we get the air out of the system so we can eliminate it. We are at a loss.... we can't seem to figure this problem out!!

Please help!!!

** My husband wanted me to add that for some reason we only have 10 psi of pressure on the pressure gauge. Could there be a blockage in the heater?

10 psi is fine - you don't want higher psi or that would indicate a blockage.

The cause of the water coming out of the air intake knobs is you've got clogged venturi inside the jets, or your gaskets for the jet inserts are gone.

To start you'll need to remove the jet nozzles/inserts from inside the tub.

Then turn the pump back on again and you'll notice that the water coming out of the knobs has stopped (& your psi reading has dropped drastically).

At that point you'll need to ascertain the condition of the inerts/gaskets to determine the exact cause.

Thank you! It turned out that we replaced two of the jets and forgot to put the new gaskets into the jets. Wow, what a stupid move, but we all know now!!!

Thanks again!!!
