Hi new here I have this spa hot springs grandee serial # G-291046
It has a leak at the pvc nut that goes to the pump the nut is split does anyone know what year my spa is and where I could get manuel or info.

Does the pump have any unions on the intake/out-take? If so you break it apart there. If it is just the nut part of the union you can replace it with a 'split nut' that comes in two pieces so you can replace it without cutting the pipe.

Do you have the sta-rite pump model with the giant band (clamp) around the pump? If so the intake/ out-take had male pipe threaded going to glued pvc with no unions. If this is the case you need to cut the 1 1/2" pvc pipes and re-do the plumbing.

Also, make sure that the threaded part of the pump that the fitting screws into is not cracked.

Yes I have A sta-rite and there is no union could I use a split nut anyways or do I need to cut out and rebuild. Any idea on the year of our spa

Not sure what you mean by 'nut' that is cracked. I thought those just had a male threaded adapter (no unions) going to flexible pvc. If that is the case you need to cut the plumbing apart.

When hotspring first started building tubs they just screwed fittings into the top and front of the pumps and glued the rest in with no thought of getting it apart later for service.

Can you take and post a picture?

Hey here are the pics if you look at the pvc nut with all the blue stuff on it the pvc nut is split on the back side. The blue is pvc sealer the owner used to try to stop leak[/img]

Looks like someone has already made some adaptions from the original plumbing.

That top fitting is a 'Jacuzzi' brand union. I may be wrong but I don't think I have seen a split-nut for that type of union. Best bet is to cut it out and use an 'Aqua-flo' brand union like the one in the front of the pump.

Great Thanks is there a link on this site that I can order these parts from and should I replace the complete hose or just the section at the pump up as far as needed for the new union.
