Hi,

I'm replacing my control pack in my 7' x 7', 6 person hot tub and I was wondering if there is a minimum or recommended wattage for the heater with a tub so big.

Thanks,

Brian

there is no standard for a tub's heater sizing, but if your electrical service will support it, go with a 5.5K

So, you are recommending a 5.5kw heater because it will?

a. heat water more quickly
b. maintain water temp more effectively while running
c. both

Would it be a mistake to go with the 4kw? I found an excellent deal on a digital pack that has a 4kw and just don't want to get into a situation where we all get in the tub in January and the water cools down within a few minutes because the heater can't keep up. I appreciate your opinion.

Thanks,

Brian

Actually, during use, most control packs do not heat anyway. Some can be configured to do so, so if that is a concern of yours, get one with a 4K heater and is configurable for heating even in high speed. The 5.5 would heat quicker, but will draw too much load if you attempt to run it with the jets on high.
