Hello from a newbie! I have never owned a spa before, but I have owned an above-ground pool and recently had installed an in-ground pool. Through private connections, someone has offered me their spa for free , 70 miles away, if I move it . It is made by American Spas; Model AS400-2020. It's 220v; has a SpaVision heater/control. See pictures. The current owner said it was there when they bought the home 3 years ago. He had something repaired on it (pump maybe?), and it was in working order. But they didn't use it, so drained it and there it sits. It has hairline cracks in a few places. It needs a cover. The redwood skirting is not rotted, but needs new stain & seal. It's been sitting on a concrete slab with the deck built around it. Is anyone familiar with this spa? How many men will it take to lift it? It has to be lifted by hand off the deck area, then carried or forklifted about 100 feet (from back yard to side yard driveway), loaded on a trailer, driven 70 miles, and unloaded and taken about 70 feet to my patio. Thank you for your input. Let me know what else I need to tell you.

This revolves much around how much you want a free spa and to what lengths you are willing to go to to get it.

Since it's free and it looks decent, I'd jump at it.

You normally move a spa by 'TILTING' it up vertically on it's side, onto a 1000 pound type wagon, (flat bed type of kids wagon capable of carrying 1000 pounds), and moving it that way. You never 'carry' a spa. That's insane and could get you in trouble quickly.

I'd just move the thing, then worry about the rest after you get it in place, because once you start to move it, it's a commitment, not an experiment.
