Hi,

I have an old controller that the connecting cable was chewed on by a critter.

I contacted L.A. Spas who advised me as follows: "We no longer carry this top side, this is what we call “Maddox” equipment we no longer carry the “Maddox” equipment. You would have to order a Retro Fit Kit which changes out the “Maddox” to the “Gecko” equipment which is what we are currently using in our spas to date.

The Retro Fit Kit changes out the Upper/Lower Controls, heater & you will get all the adaptor cords for the blower, ozinator & pumps. The Part No. is MG-RET-062003"

Is this true? Do I need to get all of this just to change the controller?

Where would be the cheapest to buy this kit, if I really have to get the whole thing?

See the photos of the controller below:

I think it means that no longer can or support "Maddox" anymore. If your keypad's wire are chewed up, try splicing the wires together to see if that'll work. Wouldn't hurt to try.

You might even be able to contact Maddox themselves @ 888-404-8402 to see if they have a replacement. If all else fails, then yes.. you'll need to purchase a whole new system to control your pump, heater, blower, etc. You don't have to go with Gecko. That's entirely up to you. Another big name controller company would be Balboa.
