Ok, so I bought my house last year and it had what I thought at the time to be an ok spa that could use some TLC. The middle of last year I gave it a good scrub, filled her up, got the chem balance somewhat good and tested the heating... lo and behold the 10yo spa works great!

To the best of my knowledge it is a '94 CalSpas VIP Series. Single pump, Ozonator, 220V, air switches, wall jets, rejuvenator jets. About 8'x8'.

Thing is, the wood skirt is SHOT! Whoever installed it put it on simple 4x4 piers and it seems to be in a low spot that I don't think is supporting it very well. As such, the wood is rotted and looks like a bag of @$$. I'm planning on pouring a concrete pad, rebuild the support frame and skirt, and maybe fixing up the internals a little bit cuz the shell IMO is in excellent condition.

My Questions:
How heavy is one of these things empty? 4 guys and some twobafours could nudge it 5 feet or so? What about if it was just the shell (minus the wood)?

If the pump runs, it heats (albeit slowly), and ozonator works (I guess, since a light comes on inside it), should I replace the spa pack? Or ozonator? Or pump? There is some rust\corrosion on some of the components or they look 'old', but not sure if I should just wait until something breaks to replace.

As you will see in the picts, there is some rust from the hand grabs that stained(?) the shell... is this able to be cleaned?

Oh, and pardon any noob questions... flame me if necessary!

Muriatic acid will almost instantly clean the rust from the acrylic.

Hmmm, except that my spa manual specifically says NOT to use muratic acid on acrylic since it will ruin it... isn't there some proven and safe rust remover compound out there?
