I have a 8' spa that has rotted housing. I've stripped off all the outer section and was hoping that the base might be in good enough condition to build upon, however I think I'll be best to create a completely new frame. The problem is how to get to it. This thing weighs a ton even with the outer frame pulled off.
My question is, if I get some muscle to come help, am I going to destroy the shell if I tip it over against the house on its edge. I had planned to place the old cover (about 6" thick padding) under the edge on the ground to give it some protection from the concrete.
I'll then build a new base from 4x2 and probably marine ply, tip it back on to the base then build up around it.
Am I going in the right direction here?

I have tipped many a spa on it's side and haven't run into any problems.. Just have to be sure to do so ever so carefully.

One more thing, just be sure to remove any loads on the plumbing first, such as pumps, heater assemblies, etc.... they can break the plumbing if they aren't removed or properly supported.

Thx for the feedback. I was intending this weekend to try and remove all the pumps and control box components before trying to tip it over.
