The transformer ("T1") on the IC 2000 circuit board smoked after connecting the unit, which was jumpered for 110vac, to 220vac. It's evidently an OEM part (Marked Eaton Corp 2510019A01). Based upon experience with our own controls, I suspect the only damage done was to the primary of the transformer, which is burned out, so a replacement would probably fix the unit.

Anyone know of a source for this part, new or used, or what the specs are for the transformer? (My guess is that it's a 20VA size with a 12v secondary.)

It's possible the transformer's fried, but it won't always happen like that.

Check the primary and secondary resistance on the xfmr and be sure there's no continuity first..
If you have continuity, then the voltage regulator is probably fried - and possibly the bridge or output rectifiers too... check those next.

If I had to replace that thing I'd probably just pull the xfmr from the board, find a generic 120/240 -> 12vac replacement, mount it on the cabinet somewhere and run wires to the board instead of trying to find an exact replacement that would match the footprint of the board.

That's the best help I can offer on it.

Also, be sure you have properly wired the control box. It would be a real bummer to replace the transformer, only to fry it a second time.

Good Luck,

The primary is definitely gone ... varnish melted and run and the hair-like wire connected to one of the primary pins is burned open. It would be helpful if someone could verify the secondary rms, by measurement, or otherwise.

For possible future use by others, Digi-Key (http://www.digikey.com) has a Tamura type PL20-12-130B (Digi-Key p/n MT3110-ND) for $11.41 ... not a pin-for-pin replacement, but electrically equivalent and the same size. With a couple extra holes drilled in the circuit board, the dual primaries parallelled and the dual secondaries connected in series, it'll work.

I did call Watkins, but got the cold shoulder from their "customer service" person ... 'buy a new box from one of our distributors ($460)'. They offer no replacement parts or repair service. Neither, as far as I know, do any of their dealers.
