Hello All,

We recently bought a house that came with a Sundance Altamar 2001 model spa. We've enjoyed the tub for a few months now and I've been trying to learn the maintenance etc.

This past weekend, I did the weekly water maintenance and ran the tub for just over an hour. I also changed the SunScent dispenser. Later that night, the wife and I were enjoying a soak when it conked out. Tried reseting the breaker but it won't reset.

Next day I opened up the side of the tub and there is a, i don't know what to call it, but a grey box with a pull out connector thing with the words ON and OFF imprinted on it depending how you orientate it. I was able to reset the breaker with this removed but it trips again as soon I place it back to ON.

What would be the next steps to take? I have read some posts about trying to isolate the pump, the heater etc. but is it difficult to do? I'm not particularly adept at electronics.

Thanks for any help / ideas.

Cheers,
jugrnt

You'll need to, or find someone that can remove BOTH electrical leads from the spa heater, and attempt to operate it again.

Most likely, your heater has a ground fault.

Pageup, thanks for the advice.

A small update.

I did take the panel off and realized I was out of my element so called a Service Tech to come and take a look at it. He was due to come by yesterday but didn't show up. At any rate, I took the panel off again in preparation for his visit and tried resetting the breaker again and I'll be damned if it didn't reset and stayed on. The tub is now back up to temperature. I had tried flicking the breaker all the way to off and back on countless times over a 2 week period but it's been sitting for over a week now. Do you think it might been some moisture got in there or something? I'm puzzled but glad it's working again.

I'm guessing I should be changing the water now too after sitting for so long.

Thx again,
jugrnt
