92 Calif Classic. The temp sensor, coming from the top side control panel, currently dangles inside the equipment area. Is this standard or should it be in a thermowell in the plumbing circuit?

I am thinking this would give me a more accurate settings for the spa tempature. In addition it might be better for the freeze protection.
