I inherited an 8 year old Catalina with Balboa control. I'm told this doesn't have a high-limit switch, which I verified by not finding it.
Tub worked 3 months ago when I shut it down for the summer. Cut the power at the disconenct box outside and drained it. This box is connected to a GFCI inside the house at the panel.
When I plug the connect back in I hear a click in the tub and the GFCI trips inside. I tested the fuse in the controller and it works (using an ohm tester, got a buzzing sound).
I had new pumps installed a year ago but don't know how old the heater is.
What to do? Suggestions are appreciated.

Some simple troublshooting, process of elimination, till you find the bad egg.
1st, disconnect BOTH heater leads, and fire it up. If it works, you've got a bad heater. If it doesn't, try disconnecting the air blower, then ozonone generator, then pump[s], essentially every componont, one at a time...
Good luck

I would disconnect both wires that go to the heater, and keep them from touching anything including eachother. then try again. If the breaker holds, the element went bad
