The Smart Touch series of controllers will work in just about any installation. This one replaced a system that was struck by lightning.

Do you have any photos of inside the spa pack?

I am always looking for good spa packs but I really hate the idea of going back to a pressure/flow switch.

The ACC SmartTouch packs are rare over here in the UK. Personally I prefer to install the Balboa M7 spa packs, the GS501Z is guite versatile, compact and easy to fit. :)

The last time I had any dealings with the SmartTouch I had to reconfigure all of the settings because they were lost after a recent storm. It was a pain to set-up but I guess it must be easy enough if you have good installation instructions and the correct settings. I had to search the net to find a manual.

That must've been a unique situation - as all of the ACC pack settings are stored in Flash Ram - ie, if you turn it off, and then back on, the settings are still there. In your particular scenario, any control that has options stored in changeable/flash ram would've blanked out. Oh yeah, There is no spa control on the market that can match ACC's software configuration ability for just about any situation anywhere - none, including 50 hz timing.

And we also search the internet for programming/user guides 8), as most customers over here lose them within 24 hours of installation. For the programming - all you gotta do is learn how to program a VCR, or a DVD recorder, (lol now where's my 12 yo son?). You should only have to do it once. Every once in a while we'll get a call about this, and I still have to reference the programming guide (which has been here for years), and I'll walk the customer over the telephone on how to program the specific options he/she needs. Not once in over 10 years of selling ACC systems have I had a failure. We've sold a lot of ACC spa control systems to the UK and beyond, and it is the most trouble free controller our customers have ever worked with.

You should give'em a break my British friend, it's an awesome company that totally stands behind their product, and you can call them (or us) anytime and get first rate technical assistance (I know the hours difference suck but hey, they're in California! Lol).

 If I were in California any spa pack would be brilliant. As it is I'm in damp, cold and miserable Britain and the pond which I have to cross is very wide.

I think because ACC is so rare over here we don't particullarly like them, that doesn't necessarily mean that they're bad, just means that we are more used to Balboa and Spa Builders products and because of that we automatically prefer them. Off the top of my head I cant think of anywhere where I can actually obtain ACC parts within the UK, they're just not common over here.

I know that ACC's shouldn't have to be reprogrammed, if they did it would be pretty frustrating everytime that the power gets turned off to conduct a water change. For some strange reason the settings had reverted back to default which was a pain as I found the manual difficult to find.... when I say difficult I don't mean impossibly hard, I did manage to find the manual while I was still on-site. :) As for the proramming, it's the first time I had ever done one before and I managed it okay, I just found it to be a pain compared to the competition (which I'm used to).

I agree that the ACC configuration settings are extensive, for what appears to be a simple system there are a lot of options available. :D

Thank you for the links, I've bookmarked them for future reference.

Regards,
Ian.
