 Post subject: OLD OLD SPA, MELTING WIRES

I have an old spa 2 speed 240v pump motor,when put on high speed the white wire and the black wire melt the insulation on the cord to the pump.It would keep running but I turn it off before the insulation drips off.Any ideas?

Check your AMP draw, sounds like it is drawing too much amperage.
