OK I had the pump in the shop. Bench tested good on high and low...

However he rebuilt the wet end, said that is why my pump will not work.

Re-installed pump. Nows runs on low constantly, will not switch to high when I press button, only humms.

I watched the relay as I pressed and it sparks when going from high to low.

Is that normal or is it a bad relay???

PS ~ had a new top-side control panel installed last year. I put in a new heater just a month ago. Works great!

Bet your common wire on the pump is incorrectly connected.

Be sure the white wire is in the correct place.

I suppose that could be if I had the plug inserted backwards. Other than that I dont see how the wire would have gotten out of place.

On this pump the plug end is in a plastic piece with the four wires lined up in a row: black, white, red, green. (going from memoery here)

If the plug was inserted backwards would it even work at all???

Well don't attempt to engage the hi speed relay with the low speed turned on again. You'll definitely screw up the relay contacts.

You need to do your own motor bench test because if everything else is right, then the motor is dead.

Hmmm, can the relays be replaced individually or do you have to replace the entire board when something like that goes bad or starts hanging up?

Also, I wonder if there is a chance the the white wires were moved on the circuit board at some point by one of the last guys who worked on it?

I suppose I could trace them down to the plugs and check that out.

I have had that pump bench tested at the shop twice now and both times they tell me it is a good motor, both sppeds working.

Got to be in the board or circuitry somewhere I suppose.

As an added bonus the blower works good but after it has been running for five minutes or so it will not shut off by the control pad. I have to power the tub down to get it to turn off.

Do you think that may be related to the other problem?
