Is it worth while to rebuild a pump motor over 7 years old or just by go buy a new one? What are causes of overheating in a motor? Motor is clean and well ventilated.

overheating usually caused by

1. Bearing failure
2. Run capacitors failing/leaking
3. Overload with over sized impeller.

You say it's overheating, so are you saying the overtemp switch is cutting out thereby shutting down the motor?

Well I had motor checked out and he said could sell me a new one but he did not see anything wrong with the motor I had and that it was maybe some blockage. So I checked all lines and all seemed OK. With that I was very puzzled...after sitting there for almost 30 min, I looked at the breaker box and wondered. Just maybe. (fingers crossed) that I had a defective breaker. I didn’t think so being it was only 7 months old, but I had nothing to loose, so I purchased a new breaker for it and ..I can’t believe that’s all it was. geesh... Now I still can send my daughter to college... LOL
