I have a 10 year old Flo-Master XP (Aqua-Flo) pump. The seal recently failed and I replaced the seal, but in so doing I had to break the impeller because the shaft had corroded, so I replaced with a new XP2 impeller.

Even before I replaced the seal and impeller, I noticed that I'd been having an error code once in a while on my spa-side controller. I couldn't find the book until today. The code was for low flow condition.

I checked the pressure switch and filter and they are just fine. It appears that the motor trips off, which then causes a low flow condition which shuts off the heater and provides the error code. The motor was definitely hot to the touch...I'm guessing something above 50C because I could not hold my hand on it longer than a second or two. In a few minutes, the motor cools off and restarts.

I know this overheating occurs periodically with low flow, but especially with high flow. I just found another similar post that talked about capacitor failure or bleed. So I will pursue this. Now to find where to buy capacitors.
