Post subject: SPA TURNS ITSELF OFF...please help
PostPosted: Thu May 05, 2005 4:00 pm
Hello,

I have a Caldera Spa running on a 110v. Problem is that the jets turn off for 20-40 seconds periodically....it does not appear the GFI is tripped as there is power going to the spa...the display has the three flashing dots on it...the spa will then kick back on....
This only happens when the high jets (no heather) is on and varies in it's occurances..sometimes right away, sometimes not at all, sometimes every 2 minutes...somtimes once every 20 minutes....why?
I think that it is plugged into a 15 amp plug (and needs a 20?), but the GFI is not being tripped....? Is this faulty wiring or the spa itself?

Also, as of a week ago, there is very fine bubles filling the spa when the jets are on..the water gets so filled with tiny bubbles that is becomes milky in color..any ideas?

Thanks for any help!
KEN

Can't say much about the bubbles but as for the high jets it is possible that the motor is overheating and shutting itself down to protect itself, it may be time for a replacement motor.

Some spas will display 3 dots or dashes across the display when the temperature sensor is out of range, either too high or too low. You may have a problem such as that. When the tub senses a problem and goes to a fault mode like that, it will shut down. Might be a place to start looking.

Hi...I have a Cal Spa unit that was doing the same thing. I purge the air out of a bleeder valve by the filter with the lo speed pump working, before using the hi speed. This seems to have cure the prob for me. It seems like there was always a little air inthere...Maybe this will help? Den
