Hello all. I am beginning the process of rehabbing a 1995 CalSpa and I've been reading posts on here for quite some time, but I haven't come across this discussion before, so here goes.

How do you prevent water (either spillage from spa or weather) from entering the interior cabinet of the spa around the lip? That is, where the spa actually rests on the cabinet.

I see that most people build it so the side panels of the cabinet 'tuck' under the spa lip itself, but I don't have enough room to do this. I'm going to build the support frame from 2x4 and 4x4 uprights in the corners. Therefore, the 2x4 square that the spa will rest on will stick out from the lip. How can I prevent water intrusion and still make it look nice?

Your experienced thoughts are appreciated.

Richard in TN
