I bought a Down East Spa this summer and after getting the water chemistry figured out have enjoyed it immensely. It is located at our second home in north central Minnesota (brrrr) so we only use it on the weekends. We have been turning the temp down to 96 during the week and turning it up to 102 when we arrive on Friday. The mode is set to Economy during the week filtering 2 hours at a time. Will this be sufficient to keep the spa from freezing on those incredibly cold (sub-zero) days this winter? Is it best – most efficient – to set it on Standard Mode and temp at 96 for the 5 days we are not there? Thanks!

Sue, I am a Minnesotan as well, and in our colder climate, you will want to put the tub to standard mode to ensure that the pumps run as often as necessary. This will help keep the pipes, which are less insulated than the mass of water in the shell, from freezing.
