We got a used Hot Springs Spa (sovereign) that had started leaking after being empty for a winter. It was winterized at the time but apparently not good enough. We refilled the hot tub about 1/2 way today and are finding a rush of water in the pump compartment. There is a hose that comes from the bottom of the hot tub to, what I believe, is the pump. We are waiting to see at what level the water will quit draining.

What I am gathering from this website is we need to be very careful when removing the side panels as they are very well attached. I am also understanding that we need to see how low the water drains to determine the level of the leak.

One other thing that I would like to know is, should we be tipping the hot tub on its side to take the bottom apart to fix the lines from there or is that not a possibility? Is it better to go in from the side?

We did receive the paperwork for the hot tub but I am not able to locate it at this time so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I am not sure of the year of this hot tub either. If that is something that is needed and you are able to tell me how to find that I would appreciate that as well.

Thanks,
Karen

The water stopped draining when it go to the bottom of the jets/light. I guess at this point we will take a look at those areas and see what we can find.

Again, any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Karen

Could you see it coming out from the hose? Does it look like it might be coming up from the floor around that hose? If so check the light lens and check for cracks around that area.
Do you have a serial number or the year of the spa?

The seriel number is I4C1136

Taking another look, the water is about halfway down the light and at the bottom of the last oval of the Moto Massage jet.

The water seemed to be coming out from around the hose.

Check the bottom of the light lens from inside the equip. area looking for moisture.

There is definitely moisture there but I am not sure if it is from condesation from the water being cold. We don't have the 220 set up yet as we wanted to make sure the leak was fixable first.

I am guessing we should add some hot water to the tub to at least bring it to the air temp and as well to see if we can feel water running from the light area.

I have added some water, about 8 cups at a time and it only took about 16 cups or so to get it to start leaking again. You can hear the water running on the left side of the control panel. We will continue to search but think that we are going to have to take a few panels off before we can find it.

Will update when I find out more information.
Thanks,
Karen

Are you able to tell me what year this one is base on the serial number?

It's a 4th quarter 2001 Sovereign. Does this spa have ozone? If so I have a simple fix.
