The blower in my hot tub is bad. When it is plugged up the breaker blows. Do I really need the blower to operate the hot tub? Will the jets and heater work without it? I'm only asking because I only got the tub 2 days ago (used) and I have never dealt with one before.

Not knowing what spa you have it should work fine without a blower. Blowers tend to pull in cold air to the water and they really don't have any therapeutic value.

It's a 2002 Great Lakes Traverse Bay spa. I'm new to the spa world and like a dummy thought that the blower was what powered the jets, but then I did some research and found out differently. Thanks for the input. Now I can just keep that booger unplugged and enjoy it without having to get another part for it.

I know that this is an old thread but I found it interesting as many people previously just disconected their faulty air blower and continued operating their spa without it.
Yes, the hot tub/spa will work perfectly without the blower connected BUT has anyone ever questioned whether or not this is going to cause a build up of bacteria/bio-film and other nasties in the pipework which can no longer be flushed through the blower system since it has been disconnected?
I don't think that leaving the blower system inopperable is a wise idea as you lose the facility to purge the system regularly of any dirt/germs etc. It's the equivilent of never opening the drain because you use a submersible pump to drain the hot tub with. If you open a drain which hasn't been opened for several months/years you'll find that the water in the very end of the drain nearest to the valve will be disgusting. It is for this reason that I always advise customers/owners to replace their faulty air blowers.
Regards, Ian.

I was going to post the samething Ian did about the amount of algae and bacteria build up inside these lines now. You do need flow going through these lines to help keep the tub safe for proper use.
