I am in the process of installing an older spa. It has a single speed 1HP pump with four jets (the four jets is confirmed, the HP of the pump is a guestimate.)

I would like to install this in such a way that the pump and the conrol pak are located approx 6 to 7 feet away from the tub. This will be at a location that allows the unit to be more serviceable than in the enclosed cabinet of the tub (which if left in it current state would be underneath an inaccessible area of a deck.)

I am very confident on the plumbing/electrical and even so much as understanding the need to insulate and shield all of the lines coming from the main tub. I also understand that I will periodically have to check the tub for leaks and such - however the question I have is this:

Will I need to upgrade the pump to allow for the longer distance of water 'push'? Im not sure if this 'short 6-7 foot' add of a distance will actually cause any noticeable drop in pressure at the jets and dont feel like performing a trial and error unless I absolutely have too.

Any help/experience in doing this would be greatly appreciated!

IMHO I would run 2" lines to and from the remote location, and based on your tub's jet compliment, normally a 1HP pump would be adequate, but I would go for a 1.5HP pump instead for the added distance.
