After spending days under my Hot Springs Classic 20-year-old spa digging out foam on two places I have still leaks ONLY when the jet pump is not running.

The one leak is at the elbow with the small nipple that has the hose to the larger pump and a hose directly to the recirculating pump. I know this is a suction line and I sealed it with epoxy and after digging out the foam underneath I sealed the joint where that elbow goes into the larger pipe that has the sensor in it, first with a two part sealer, still leaking, next with slightly thinned down 20 minute epoxy brushed on, still leaking, next encased it with GE 100% silicone sealer that seemed to stop it but I still see some drops dripping.

The other leak is where the delivery pipe from the jet pump makes an elbow just under the deck and I dug out all the foam.

My biggest problem is that all sides of the leaking pipes are hard to get to and there are remnants of the original foam adhering to the pipe and it seems that after sealing the water finds its way through that foam.

All of it is on both sides of the compartment and I am lucky that the hot tub is sitting on a 3 foot square concrete pedestal with lots of overhang and there is about 16 inches between the bottom of the spa and the ground letting me get under it, since it is inside of a building of its own, moving the hot tub is not possible, it is built in.

Now to the curious part. I filled it today and ran the jet pump for six hours after putting a bottle of Seal-a-leak in AND NOT A DROP LEAKED ON THE NEWSPAPERS I SPREAD UNDERNEATH.

As soon as I disconnected the power the leaks started on both places. I am at a loss. Help.

WHen I recently used Leak Seal the directions clearly said to take out the filters and not run the pumps or heater. I didn't (much) and the leak seems to have stopped. It sounds as if you may have freeze damage however and cracked fittings which no amount of Leak Seal or epoxy will repair for long.

I'd suggest you locate all leaks witha dye test. Then drain it and stand it up on the side so you can work on it. You may need to replace some of the fittings
