Hi. I recently changed the water in my spa. It is a 1996 Cal Spa. The #1 or main pump will not prime. I have had this problem in the past but have always been able to get it to run either by running water from a hose through the jets or by turning the vent valves on the pump. I have tried both several times and no results. Does anyone else have ides? I don't want to have to pay $100.00 to have a repair man come out.

Thank you!

It sometimes just takes time... What I find that works best is to loosen the coupler on the discharge side of the pump a little bit. Let it run in low speed for a while. Alternate and kick it on high speed for a few seconds every 15-30 secs... Just keep doing it until it pumps thru completely.

That's what you'd pay me to come out to do for you.

Thank you. I will try that but I don't know how to change speeds with it. The only way I know how to turn it on is with the button on top of the tub.

THANKS! I finally got it to Prime. You were right it took patience and switching from just the heater (first speed) and turning the jets on (second speed). It probably took 5 to 10 minutes! Thanks for your advice!
