Hey All,
I'm still fairly new to hottubs, so please bear with me here. I believe I have a 3-speed pump: push the button once - it circulates, push it again - get some low output from the jets, push it again get high output from the jets.....
So today it seems like only the high-speed works: push the button once - i hear a click and nothing happens, push the button again - i hear a click and nothing happens, push the button again - the high speed jets come on.
can anyone explain to me what this means? Bad pump? if so, how do I know which side it bad, i think I have two motors in the cabinet: if facing the cabinet one on the left, and one on the right.
**My bigger concern: If I raise the temperature to try to get it to heat/circulate - it clicks and nothing happens. Should I turn off the power to the hottub? do I need to worry about overheating problems since there is no circulation?
I appreciate any information you might have - I hope to fix this myself since its summertime in ohio.
Thank You!
Shyam

sounds like low speed has failed - possible causes - faulty pump capacitor, faulty circuit board relay, failed low speed winding in motor

Hi alacy,
One more note - when I posted this it stopped working, the next day it started working again, until today - now its stopped working again. It always seems to be *after* I've run the motors for ~30 minutes or so.
Do you suppose it has something to do with heat/summer? Does this point to anything other than pump capacitor/circuit board relay, or low speed winding in the motor?
THanks!
Shyam

theres an overtemp thermistor in the motor windings and a centrifugal switch which, in addition to the above possible causes, could also be responsible - you need a tech to assess cause and rectify
