Our circulating pump was not working so we bought a new one. The old one would trip the breaker every time we plugged it in the control box. The new pump came and had a 3 prong standard wall plug on it. So we hooked it up ran an extension cord out and plugged it in. Now the spa runs fine the pump is circulating water the spa controls register it is heating and everything. Have now been told running the circulating pump independantly like we have it will cause issues. But spa is working great. Anyone have any ideas of what may occur by doing this?????? Haven't had a problem yet again the spa operates wonderfully.

In most spas this will cause no problem except in hot climates where the incidental heat generated by the pump motor and impeller friction can cause spa water to heat excessively well above your actual temp set point. We experience this issue in Australia in Summer and have personally seen spas set at 34 C to exceed 41 C and trigger OH errors!

You really should utilize your old circ pump cord and plug it into the correct controller box connector; (that is provided the voltage on the old one and your new one is the same).
