Hello, everyone. I'm Jeff.

Now that we're all acquainted - when my wife and I bought our house, there was an old Pacific Marquis tub installed in the deck. To make a long story short, the motor started grinding, and finally came to a stop. You can imagine my joy when I looked into replacing it and found that it's so obsolete, you can't buy a replacement motor. (Baker-Hydro "Hydron 2")

I did find a pump that is a swap-in for the BH motors... but now I'm stuck trying to decide: swap motors and move along, or put in a new spa pack? The light won't stay on, and we were having trouble getting the temp stable...

Any thoughts?

To replace this system is quite a challenge as you are limited by the space provided by the enclosure, and the fixed plumbing.

Good news is, that you're in luck with pump replacement as you've got a lot of room to cut back the suction pipe on the lower left, and install flex to a new coupler for a 1.5" side discharge pump (any kind), and the discharge of the pump goes to a removeable 1.5" pump union coupler to the heater input.

I've done these before, I just used a 1.5 HP 2 speed Aquaflo FMHP pump to get the job done.

I wouldn't replace the controller or heater as this system should serve you just fine... quite generic and easy to get parts for. Besides that, the topside control panel is a nightmare to do anything with because of it's unique design - namely the slide type controls.

Ah, well that pretty much answers my question. Hopefully my temp issues were related to my pump going bad and overheating (sure looks like it cooked the paper behind it a bit). Thanks for the quick reply!
