The tub and pump are brand new and we only used it once about a year ago. We just tried last night and it sounds like it is trying to run but not turning, and just shuts off from over heating and doesn't suck the water in to fuel the jetes, is there a way of turning over the motor like the way you do with a garbage disposal?

it is possible that the bearings saw water and have since siezed up. If that is the case, bearing replacement is highly recommended, instead of just breaking it loose.
