i have a Vita LX 400 roughly 1997, The main pump will not shut off, which in turn slowly increases the temp. Would this be the dreaded curcuit board?

could be, but more likely a stuck contact on one of the relays controlling the motor. If it is a stuck relay, and if the motor is in low speed, cycling to high speed should cause the motor to make an inhuman noise and perhaps pop the breaker. Same would be true if stuck in high and trying to run it in low. If you can't cycle through the functions, prolly be a circuit board in the stocking this year.
