I ended up moving the cap to the outside of the motor, and used on of the cap covers from the old pump to enclose it in. Reinstalled the pump and everything fit.
Turned the power on, and nothing but a hum from the pump.
Took apart the EM-203T box and ohmed out all the connections and everything was fine, no melted wires or anything telltale.
At this point, I went after replacement parts and was very happy to learn that I could buy almost all the necessary components from the former manufacturing group for Caldera based in El Cajon.
I ended up buying one new contactor, two relays, two timers, and a heat on lamp, filter, skimmer basket, and a new pressure switch from the Caldera group out in El Cajon.
I used the spa tech they recommended and together we got it working yesterday.
Today I am extremely happy to say that everything works and the spa is plenty hot.
Now I am trying to make a solar water heater to reduce my utilities bill and wondered if anyone here has installed anything similar to this:
