I've got a question about the wet end on a Spa. On my wet end there are two small pipes comming out of it, I think around 3/8ths. When my spa was running one of these pipes was connected to an air hose. Also on the wet end is a small flat plastic thumb screw that plugs into a hole. I would like some clarification on what these pieces of the wet end are and do.

The one that is attach to the tubing is probably just an air relief system to keep the pump from air locking on a fresh fill.

The other is a drain plug or sometimes called a winterization plug.
