Hi all, I have an older model (at least 6 or 7 years old) CalSpa that I'm having trouble with. I fill the tub, bleed the air, and circulate/heat the water on low speed (2 speed pump) everything works just fine. But, when I turn on the jets, it blasts water like it's supposed to for about 5-8 seconds then air gets introduced into the system, and I have to re-bleed the line and over and over.... someone mentioned to me it could be pump seal/gasket needs replacing. Anyone have any thoughts?
thanks for your help!

chances are that there isn't a leak, as you would normally leak water when the pump is off. Check the level of water in the spa, do you have enough? Also remove your filters and see if that takes care of it...if so, soak or replace your filters.

Thanks for the reply... the water level was normal, but it did happen to be a new filter. (i say 'was' because the tub is currently empty.. i'm doing some footwork to get info to a potential buyer of the tub)
And I had the same mindset as you when addressing the seals.. there was no extra leaking water anywhere, but thought i'd bring it up anyway.

As Charger indicated, most likeley not a shaft seal, or any other pump seal. If the spa has a weir door, be sure it's functioning normally. If the door gets stuck while in the "up" position, it will block water from getting into the filter (assuming the filter is on the suction side of the pump) and cause the pump to lose its prime. Double the check the water level as well.
Good luck,
