I have a wavemaster 3000 pump unit in my hot spot spa.

Needless to say it's gone bad so I need to replace it.

When I went to my local Hot Springs dealer in my area they told me that they could replace the unit for the low low price of $475.00.

When I went to backyardplus.com I found the unit for $301.27 with shipping. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement motor for the Watkins Wavemaster 3000 cheaper than this? I find it hard to believe that the outlet price was $175.00 more than the internet price but I guess I should not be suprised.

The impeller is in good shape so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

Help!

The dealer must of looked up the wrong part number, that price is wayyyyyy over retail.

It retails at $314.10

Tell them part # 34677

That's what I thought but the guy brought the pump to the desk and showed me.

American sales in Tinley Park, IL.

I couldn't believe it myself but that was their markup on the thing.

If you have the "ducting" hose coming off the back end of the motor.....and you want to keep it, replace the pump. I'm still looking around for the replacement motors that I can reuse the ducting flange on.
I've found them to be OEM motors not available through usual channels for replacement on pumps.

Matter of fact, maybe Mr. Swine knows where to get replacement motors that reuse the ducting flange. I'd probably PAY $50.00 for the information, as I could save my customers some money on pump replacements.

I list the pump on my site for about $340. That is under current suggested retail.

It looks like the 301.00 that I was going to have to spend is well worth it then.

Kind of upsetting that a simple electric motor can cost a consumer so much.

Do I have to replace it with the same motor or is there a cheaper alternative to the Watkins Wavemaster 3000?

Mike, there's always something cheaper. The watkins pump slides right in there perfect. That's worth a couple hundred in headaches, misaligned wet-end to union problems, no bleedline fitting, etc, etc.
