Hello,

I just received my new replacement spa pump. It came complete with the "wet end" which likes fine (right plumbing connector size, side discharge).

But, on the opposite end of the pump, there is a round male, plastic part that sticks out a few inches. It looks like you could attach a large hose (like, say 3 inches) or tube to it.

What is this? Is it for cooling the motor (I can see the back of the motor if I look inside this plastic "tube")? Can I just ignore it and use this pump?

Thanks,

Jim

Yeah, it's just an extrusion to attach an exhaust vent to (similar to dryer exhaust hose). Many hot tub pumps have them...if yours didn't then it's no big deal. You may want to put some screening over it so no mice get inside though.

Thanks Dan. The screening is a good idea. I will definitely do that.
