Techies-
I recently replaced a 6HP pump on a CalSpa, because it had been making a loud grinding noise. I figure that just the motor needs to be replaced, and would like to purchase just the motor. CalSpa will only sell me the pump/motor assembly, not just the motor. The part number is PUM22000941, made by Power Right Industries.

You don't need to replace the motor with the same manufacturer. I would take the motor specs off the motor if not just take the motor to a pool/spa store and tell them you want the same power, horse power and frame style. You could also search the web for the motor.
I just had to replace the motor for my Emerald spa. To buy the motor/pump from a dealer was over $600. I found the motor online for $240. Did the work myself and saved a ton. Just remember to replace all seals and gaskets when you do the job, so you don't have to pull it out again when they go bad.

Thank you for your reply. I can buy a new pump/motor assembly for $233, so it does not appear that it would be cost effective for me to rebuild one if a new motor is going to be in the $200 range. I took the motor apart and noticed that the shaft is rusty, which is probably what is causing the loud noise. Any suggestions on where to buy a new shaft?
