Blue Ridge Spa, approx 8 years old.

Two Button air control controller.

I Think it is a re-labeled Pres-Air-TROL #S26010100 or similar.

Tee Heater control lights stay on (in either the Heat or Ready condition)
when Spa is powered off by the function on/off button.

When the spa is off, if the thermostat says "heat", it does, quickly evaporating the water in the heater. I believe the saftey switch in the heater is working, as it will shut off after a bit, and prevents a melt though dry fire.

Need advice on how to fix.

I want to think the controller is bad, however, I am no expert, and think there is the possibility it could be some other (hopefully less expenive part).

I did search though the posts for an answer before posting. I did find a slighly similar post where an electral leak caused the heater to engage. I do not believe this to be the problem, however, if it is a possibility, I would like to know how to test. The GFI switch is working, and is not popping.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Joe

Most likely you simply have a bad pressure switch, when you have your spa set in an "economy" mode the pump is operated by the timer only, in this case the timer has not engaged and the thermostat is telling the heater that it is time to heat...The only thing that prevents the heater from activating is the pressure switch which is designed to detect water flow before the heater can activate. If this switch is stuck closed then the heater will activate at will and cause exactly the scenario that you are describing.
