I've got a Leisure Bay, Model: G1515CLSSO-H, MFG date: 11/20/1995, Volts: 120/240. I am running it in the 240 mode. (Dedicated circuit)
We have not used this spa in 2 years because of a leak from the pump. Had I known that it was a simple and quick replacement of the wet end, this would have been fixed a long time ago. Anyway, 2 years ago, I re-plumbed approx. 25% of piping and when I got done found that I was still losing water and determined it was from the pump. I just this weekend bought a new wet end and replaced the old one. While I had it out, I connected power to the motor and it ran great, no rubbing, no noise. After hooking everything back up filling the hot tub for a "flush/filter" run there was quite a bit of "chattering" coming from the limit contactor. I'm thinking that this is maybe a case of oxidation build up and will cease after running a while. I allow the tub to run 10 minutes, the heater light is on and I can feel warm water coming from inlet from circulator. I drain and refill, add chemicals, install new filter then start. Everything is working; heater, circulating pump, jet motor & pump, air blower. The chattering is still present. This time, after 7-10 minutes, the main pump motor kicks out. Heater/circulator pump still working, blower motor. I felt of the main pump motor and it's extremely hot. I turn the current off via the air switch and while I'm thinking this thing over, 3-4 minutes, I hear a click from the motor. I pressed the "jet" air switch and the jets start again and run a couple of minutes before kicking out again. I uploaded pics of the wiring. I notice that there are a couple of places where you can see evidence of exessive heat on the wiring. I don't mind replacing anything that I need to... but I'd appreciate any suggestions regarding testing these circuits. I've got my handy-dandy fluke ready. I also do not mind calling for the tech from where I bought the hot tub if that's what I need to do, but you know how us fix-it-uppers are.

Thanks.

I replaced both the limit contactor and the heater contactor. No more chattering. But something is still making the main motor pump overheat and kick out. Checked the voltage going to the motor; 120V. Anybody got suggestions?

It sounds to me that the motor isn't getting the required voltage. Does it seem to run slower and start more sluggish than it used to? If you could, take a detailed picture of the wiring in the back of the motor and post it. Perhaps me or someone else might see something you might have missed (4 eyes are better than 2 LOL)
