well I pulled the bad timer from my '89 Marquis with the intention of replacing it. There more i thought about it, I decided to try to fix it first (there can't be much in there, right?). After I finally figured out to open it I was left with the clock motor and a pile of gears that fell onto my workbench. I kluged a 120V line onto the motor and it worked fine. So now it was just a matter of getting all those gears back in the right place. I pondered it for awhile, tried a few combinations and finally found one that seemed right. Put it all back together and..........viola! fixed. I reinstalled it into the controller and all is well in that dept. now.

Time to troubleshoot the overheating pump now............

It will fail again. This is the case in every timer I "fixed". They simply wear out.
