I got skinned alive by a repair tech who I'd used once before on my tub and was fine. This time, the heater quit working and boy will I never learn to "get a 2nd opinion". I'd have to write a novel to tell you all the trouble I've gone through in the last 8 weeks. Finally the guy showed up and finally plumbed in the 2-speed replacement pump. He basically gutted my poor classic and put in a Balboa M-7 and a new 2-speed pump. The balboa is running things correctly. I have heat, flow and jets. The problem I'm having is the Moto-Massage usually goes up and down. That's the main reason I keep this spa. It worked perfect before this tech started. Now I can see the water and jet flow through it fine, but it is not moving up and down like before. What could be the problem? I don't dare ask this guy to come back...I'm afraid he might ruin more things. I checked the parts best I could and the hose is intact, the plastic pieces covering the unit of the MM are all intact. I can make it go up and down if I push it down or give a flick on the nogin. But I'd rather use the tub the way I used to. You'd think I could after being charged $700!! Anyone know anything about these older moto-massage units and how they work?

One of two things happened here.

First, is coinsidence. Over time the motomassage will cease to function properly due to wear and depositis on the moving parts.

Second is low flow from the new pump. These jets work on water flow rate, and if the rest of the tub seems slightly under powered as well, it's likely the pump capacity is smaller than your original. If this is the case, I would demand credit on this pump unit (keep the controls) and get the next higher or better capacity.
